In February 2005, artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude assembled their massive modern art project, now known as The Gates. The project consisted of 7,500 saffron colored gates with matching fabric panels hanging over miles of Central Parks walkways. 'The Gates' provided a colorful contrast to the gray landscape of Central Park in winter. While 'The Gates' lasted only two weeks, the crowds it brought helped many NYC businesses. These photos were taken on two different dates, the later ones taken shortly after a snowstorm.
